Breeding Marbled crayfish reproduce through a process called apomictic parthenogenesis, which means they can clone themselves without a mate. Female crayfish can lay up to 700 unfertilized eggs that develop into genetically identical offspring. It takes about 57 months for a baby crayfish to reach adulthood and start reproducing itself, and the brood size increases with age.
