Outstanding 1935-D/D/D/D Buffalo. To have one in such stellar condition is one thing, but a D/D/D/D mint error is quite the acquisition. As stated in David Lange’s book, « The Complete Guide to Buffalo Nickels », the 1935 is common in lower circulated grades, XF-AU coins are scarce, because the (usually poor) striking quality was such that most pieces went from uncirculated directly to VF while retaining luster. Choice and Gem examples are obtainable, but only if one discounts the importance of strike. Fully-struck Gems are genuinely rare. » A weak horn is problematic for 1935 given the worn out dies that were retired after this year and years of reuse.
