If they ever have a beauty contest – I think we have a winner. The wiring scheme on this guitar is that of a standard ES-335. GIBSON produced the ES-340 TD between 1969 and 1974 and also in 1978. The ES 340 was like the ES-335 but had a different wiring scheme and a 3 piece maple neck.The wiring scheme on this guitar is that of a standard ES -335. I fell in love with this guitar in 1974 at a music store in Portland Maine. The 1st owner had upgraded the Tuners to Grovers and the wiring was that of a ES-335. Like Steve Tyler did with his Blonde 335,1st thing I did was take the black pickguard off. I’ve babied this guitar for 50 years and It plays better than any guitar I’ve ever played. The neck is perfect and has never been adjusted. The frets are also perfect and are not wore down at all. The pickups are original. The octave is 100% perfect. The strings are set low and there is no buzzing because there are no « High frets. » The ES-335/340 between 1966-1969 had a wonderful neck that is a little thinner. 1.9/16 Inch instead of 1.11/16.(Many/most people love this neck, however, if you have HUGE hands you may want a neck that’s also huge.)The serial number is 559415 The paint job is gorgeous with deep changing shades of blonde. I think that real Blonde finish is rare because when I was looking for, « How many Blonde 335/340’s were made? » I came across this post: AlienVintage My rough understanding is that there would probably only be another relatively small handful of blondes for 1961 through 1969 (?). In fact, maybe (?) even if you added 1961-1969 shipping totals to the 1958-1960 totals, it might still be fewer than 300 total guitars (?)… You can see the guitar on YouTube: « Motor City Slim » (I know I’m not that good) If you have any questions please contact me.
