The original art for this stamp was illustrated using pen and ink and watercolor. In 1755, Dr. Thomas Walker introduced them in Virginia when he returned home from the French and Indian War with a pile of cuttings. Though harvesting of Albermarle pippins usually takes place in October, they are often considered late-winter fruit.
