Circa 1920th-1930th CARL SCHLIEPER « Eye Brand » Sod Buster pattern folder in scarce practically unused condition. Blade’s tang is stamped D.R.G.M. / 1423923 – likely post WW1 – pre WW2 manufacture; made in in Solingen, Germany. The abbreviation DRGM stands for Deutsches Reichs-Gebrauchsmuster (German term for the federation-wide utility model patent). DRGM patents were available from 1891 to the start of WW2. The knife is about 4-3/4″ / 12 cm overall closed; drop-point blade is about 3-3/4″ / 9.5 cm. Satin-polished carbon steel blade is razor-sharp still; original tip is intact; some light hairlines on the tip are noted for accuracy. Fancy African ebony wood handle scales with brass liners; the blade opens and closes with a sharp snap; all parts are tight.
