One 1959 Washington Silver Quarter Type B Reverse FS-901, Gem BU from Original Roll (really.. unlike so many listings with this claim). You are bidding/buying one (1) Coin. These all come from a true original roll acquired in 2020 along with 50+ other rolls of BU Washington Quarters from 1954-1964. All 40 Coins from the original roll have the Type “B” Reverse. So far, I have submitted 10 from this roll to PCGS, and all 10 have come back graded with the FS-901 designation. 7 have graded 65, two have graded 64 and one, has tied the pop of 66I still have almost 25 raw coins for sale. All are Gem or near gem quality and representative of the pictures in the listingThis was a unique and amazing find. Original bank roll stored in a safe since the early/mid 70s along with another 100 rolls or so (I purchased 54 rolls plus some bags of dimes and halves)These coins exhibit Original Luster and excellent surface quality & eye appeal. The coins have been in an old generation plastic tube since the early 70s. (See last couple pictures). They were one roll in a mini hoard of 54 tubed rolls of Uncirculated Washington Quarters, along with several bags of 90% half dollars, dimes and a few dozen silver dollars. The previous owner was from an upscale New England town and had stored these all in his safe at home since the early 70s Please note, the last 2 pictures are pictures of the entire hoard of 54 BU quarter rolls from which this roll was found in. The 3rd and 4th pictures from the end, (pic 9 and 10), are a side-by-side comparison of a type A and type B reverse. The type A quarters are not for sale in this auction and are being used for demonstration purposes only. Pictures 9 & 10 show 2 quarters side by side. The type B reverse is on the left and the type A reverse on the right in both photos. No other rolls or individual coins had any type B reverse quarters within.Note that there are 2 pickup points to differentiate Type A from B. In The United States of America, the ES in States are completely separated on Type B, whereas on the Type A quarters, the serifs of the E make contact with the left side of the SThe leaf on the vine at the bottom connects strongly and thickly to the A in Dollar (Quarter Dollar) below it whereas on the Type A quarter, it is much thinner, faint and barely touching the top of the A. The entire reverse on Type B is struck up and bold as the type B reverses were intended for Proof Strike coins. This is the main reason the type B reverse business strikes are only found on Philadelphia issued coins, and only from 1956-1964 as those were the years that design was used!
