PYREX has been produced in 3 Major Categories: CLEAR (1915 -); Flameware (1936-79); Coloured (Clear and Milk Glass) (1947-) … Offered here is a – Retro-Recent pyrex ~2000 – Red Colour lettering & Graphics; Inside-Measure, Large Measuring-Cup – 4-Cup 1000-mL 32-oz – in MOST-EXCELLENT, gently-used condition. ALL surfaces are HIGHLY-GLOSSY – shiny and clean. There are NO obvious chips, or cracks – one tiny rough speck; No obvious significant scratches, stains, nor hazing. The graphics are more to eggshell or matte on the exterior surface – could have been made as such; very minimal fleck colour-loss. This LARGE Measuring-Cup has a wide-open form – standard at the base and low rise to the top edge, making the generous top diameter; large, open-handle; INSIDE-MEASURE Graduations -allow the measure to be seen as the cup is filled, from above. The graphics are PRIMARY-RED in colour. There are measurements on the – LEFT – « pyrex « circled R »; to 4C by 1/2C, to 32 oz by 4 oz; MADE IN U.S.A. »; RIGHT – « to 1000mL by 100 ml, pyrex to 4C by 1/3C, NO STOVETOP, HORNALLA NO, CUISINIERE NON, (microwave symbol) OK »; FRONT – « to 4C by 1C – drawn in CUP-LOGOS ». The design of this measuring cup dates it to ~2000. This LARGE Measuring-Cup is embossed on the base – « 15 … ». This LARGE Measuring-Cup measures – 5″ in height; 9 1/8″ in diameter across the spout and handle; 7 1/8″ in diameter across the top edge; 3 7/8″ in diameter across the base. SOME INTERESTING INFORMATION – My greatest weakness!!! USA & CANADIAN – great to collect!!! PYREX released its first measuring cup in the USA in 1926 – crystal-clear, with a spout, embossed graduations, rounded D-handle, level top edge, MPN of 8, 1-Cup size. As the PYREX measuring-cup evolved – the standard sizes were always – Small – 1-Cup, Medium – 1-Pint 2-Cup, Large – 1-Quart 4-Cup – even when designs and MPNs changed. Corning Inc Pyrex was trademarked as PYREX in 1908. It was made of borosilicate glass. World Kitchen LLC “spun-off” of Corning in 1998 and licensed the Pyrex brand in lower case « pyrex ». THIS Pyrex was made of less-costly soda-lime glass. So, currently, Pyrex made in the US (N America) is made of soda-lime glass but elsewhere it is made of the costlier borosilicate glass.
