What is it? -Seymour Duncan Whole Lotta Humbucker pickup set SH-18 with nickel covers and SOLDERLESS Jimmy Page 50’s style pre-wired Les Paul wiring harness upgrade for Gibson Les Paul guitars. Gives you access to a wide range of different tonal possibilities. Easy install with no soldering required. Simply connect your pickups to the solderless terminals with a small Philips screw driver (not included). Features 4x CTS Push/Pulls wired as: Neck volume-neck coil split Neck tone-neck/bridge pickups in seriesBridge volume-bridge coil splitBridge tone- reverses phase of bridge pickup -The 50’s style wiring allows you to maintain more high end and clarity with less treble loss when rolling back on the volume. -The harness also features the .022 Orange Drop Capacitors. When compared to the .047 caps, the .022 controls a narrower frequency range. The result is a slightly sharper and clearer tone with a more detailed high end. -Hand wired with the highest quality parts and cleanest solder connections. This wiring harness will give you the clearest signal possible with even and balanced volume/tone roll off. SH-18 Whole Lotta Humbucker Pickups -In his youth, Seymour Duncan spent time in London and aided fellow young guitar players with defining their sound through pickups. This wouldn’t be much of a story if one of these lads didn’t go on to change the world! (Ya, it was Jimmy Page). Seymour’s special re-wound PAFs went into his Les Paul that captured a sound that blasted through a Marshall stack and into history. These same pickups are now the Whole Lotta Humbucker. The recipe for these pickups starts with a rough cast Alnico 5 magnets, plain enamel wire, and Seymour’s unique wind pattern. The bridge is a hotter than vintage 8.78k DC resistance and the neck is similarly beefy at 8.20k. Tonally, the rough cast magnets add warmth and balanced note-to-note clarity so everything sounds bigger. What is sonically unique about the Whole Lotta Humbucker is the way they push your amp and add a very slight natural compression and sustain to your playing. Ingredients -Solderless screw set terminals (screw driver not included).-4 x CTS 500k long shaft push/pull pots. 3/8″ wide bushing, 3/4″ long. Requires 24 spline knobs. (CTS makes the highest quality potentiometers with consistent and reliable readings). -2 volume 2 tone-.022mfd Orange Drop capacitor (produces a smooth and even treble roll off when cutting back on the tone controls)-Vintage style pull back cloth wire (7 strand 22 gauge wire for the strongest grounding connection)-Custom aluminum shield plate to insure proper grounding and noise reduction-Switchcraft short straight 3 way toggle-Switchcraft 1/4″ Jack-Wiring diagram included NOTE: If you are replacing the electronics on an Epiphone les paul you may need to widen the potentiometer holes on the guitar. You may also need new 24 spline plastic knob covers designed for full size USA spec pots. Most Epiphones come stock with smaller pots.
