ORIGINAL 1966 JOHN L THOMPSON (1933-2005) ‘FAMILY PORTRAIT’ CASEIN PAINTING This is really a wonderful original. Fresh from the artist’s estate, I acquired a small collection John Thompson’s finest Expressionist work. Thompson was the Dean of Students for the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. He received his Master in Fine Arts from Tufts University and was also a graduate of the the school he later became Dean of. He exhibited at the Boris Mirsky gallery as well as the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston in the 1960s. This is a wonderful abstract expressionist painting of a group of people. Casein on paper with the image measuring 12 1/2 x 16 1/2 inches. Painting is in good condition. Great color and composition. Some spotting to the background paper. There is a repaired tear to the upper right corner with tape verso. Signed lower right twice in pencil with a date in the lower one. Titled in pencil lower right corner below the matte. Painting is taped into the original backing. Matte measures 21 1/2 x 30 inches and also shows spotting – really should be replaced. Unframed.
