The Cats 5000 lenses are similar in shape and style to the popular Aviator, but they’re housed in a nylon frame, which gives them a little more comfort and flexibility. But that’s not all, these glasses have all the bells and whistles. Not only do they look great, but functionality is top notch as well. The frames were made for action with the addition of the wrap around, cable ear stems, removable leather blinders, and attached elastic safety string for additional security. The cable ear stems have an extra clear layer over top to add to their gripping power, so you can be sure they’ll stay in place while you’re on the move. But just incase, you have the option of using the elastic, around the neck safety string for added security when you need it most. These glasses also have what some consider to be the most unique feature of all Bausch and Lomb styles, leather blinders, side shields. The blinders are easily removable by just popping them out by hand. They provide additional protection from the sun, extreme cold temperatures, and flying objects, by blocking your peripheral from the sides. Having cold eyes isn’t a thing most people regularly consider, but once you’ve experienced this exceptional protection, you won’t want to go without it, especially in the extreme cold, and or windy weather. Making them great for outdoor winter activities. The leather blinders are stepped up a notch even beyond, by coupling with matching leather wrapped around nose bridge cover. Frames are stamped Frame France on the inner right ear stem, and Bausch and Lomb Frame France on the inner left, respectively. The outer ear stems are stamped Cats on the right, and Ray-Ban on the left at the hinges. The lenses are the G-31 full mirror lens. They are the same Aviator shape and size as the popular classic metals, teardrop. G-31 lenses have an extra dense mirror coating to block strong reflected glare. They offer a whopping 92% light absorption and are ideal for high glare conditions, and snow-field sports, making them an excellent choice for skiing. The mirrored lens, and the leather blinders are a million dollar combination if you’re an avid skiier or winter sports enthusiast.
