Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome. You are looking at a rare Italian microphone from the 1950’s era called the Piezo Electrico Serie 401N model which is a crystal microphone with a great working original element and set at High impedance. It comes with the adjustable volume control, short cable and vintage stand in which to display. Again, the mic works very well and would be great for a HAM radio or other basic communications. If you have used a crystal mic before than you know exactly what to expect from this mic. This early Italian microphone has a very unique design and it’s the first I have personally come across. It has a classic spherical ball top grill that is attached to a lower mechanism which includes the adjustable volume control. It’s an attractive deco design and the mic will screw onto any standard desk or floor stand with it’s universal thread size though the stand is provided. The chrome globe itself shows lite scuff marks and the front grill shows lite deformation but it’s free of corrosion or odors and the inner black silk pop filter is perfect. The Piezo logo looks great too. The knob / volume control works just as it should and the lower portion of the mic has it’s original painted finish. The finish shows typical wear as there are some small paint chips and a few scuff marks. The mic has a short original cable with a vintage Cannon male XLR connector. The cable is soft, pliable and you’ll just need to attach any longer XLR cable as an extension to your audio equipment. The mic itself is appx 5 1/2 inches tall X 2 inches wide. With the stand it’s 11 inches tall X 4 inches wide. MICROPHONE STAND IS PART OF THIS SALE… The stand is a vintage metal type but I’m not sure of the brand? It has a chrome riser that shows just lite wear and black painted metal base that shows lite wear as well. It makes a good platform for the mic and looks great. You can always place the mic on another stand if you don’t care for the one provided. If you need a rare working mic for that special collection that very few others have then this Italian make might just do the trick. As with all my vintage microphone and related items… I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid. If not…I have a no hassle return policy.
